Message From The President Of The Asian Society Of Endometriosis And Adenomyosis

I am delighted that the 9th Asian Conference on Endometriosis is being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 28thto 30th November 2021, despite the major challenges posed by the pandemic. I thank my Sri Lankan colleagues for making the courageous decisions necessary to ensure the conference could be held.

Asia is home to over a quarter of the world’s population and there would undoubtedly be many women who suffer the consequences of endometriosis. This conference would hopefully bring into focus the Asian perspective of the disease, given the unique cultural and economic realities of the continent, whilst bringing forth globally applicable knowledge.

Judging by the way the pandemic has unfolded it would be fair to assume that the transactions of the conference would be conducted mostly online. However, the organizers have left the option of physical participation depending on the progress of the pandemic.

I want to thank the Scientific Programme Committee for harnessing the expertise of leading clinicians, researchers and professors in the field of endometriosis for the conference. Leaders from the West to the Far East are included in the list of speakers. The program promises to be rich and of interest to anyone involved in the area.

I wish the Conference all success and invite you to participate actively in its transactions. I hope however, that the pandemic will abate in time for the conference so that I would have the pleasure of welcoming you in Sri Lanka personally.
