Welcome message from the President of ASRM

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the beautiful setting of Salt Lake City, Utah, for the 2016 American Society for Reproductive Medicine Scientific Congress & Expo, our 72nd annual meeting. This year’s congress theme is “Scaling New Heights in Reproductive Medicine,” and will encompass all aspects of reproductive medicine, technology, and health. The program will be a comprehensive and stimulating balance between an exploration of the latest molecular and genetic techniques and how reproduction affects public health on a global scale. This live program is intended to serve the needs of physicians, nurses, andrology and embryology laboratory personnel, genetic counselors, social workers, practice and laboratory managers, as well as specialists in mental health, law, and ethics, in order to advance the highest standards of medical care and to disseminate the latest developments in clinical and basic research. Dr. Clarisa Gracia, Chair of the Scientific Congress Committee, Dr. Glenn Schattman, Chair of the Pre-Congress Program Committee, and members of their organizing teams have designed an outstanding and provocative program for all of our members. The CME portion of the Scientific Congress will include an exciting array of plenary lectures, symposia, and interactive sessions, all interweaving the theme of the congress. Topics range from the impact of environmental factors and stress on reproductive health, to reproductive genetics and epigenetics, endocrinology, global access to reproductive care, reproductive and fetal surgery, optimization of assisted reproductive technology outcomes, fertility preservation, and contraceptive technology. The interactive sessions focus on a wide range of controversial topics and are designed to energize and stimulate discussion and interaction among the participants. The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program will be complemented by non-CME activities including intimate, in-depth roundtable luncheons with recognized experts, in addition to oral and poster-format scientific  abstract presentations, representing cuttingedge research in reproductive medicine and biology. Dr. Schattman and the Pre-Congress Program Committee have collaborated with our affiliated societies and professional and special interest groups to present a stimulating array of Pre-Congress courses that will meet the needs of our clinicians, scientists, laboratory technologists, nurses, and other health-care and allied professionals. We welcome our members and trainees as well as our colleagues from around the world to attend and engage in the ASRM Scientific Congress & Expo. As always, we value the participation of our global community, including the symposia organized and presented by our international sister societies. The meeting will offer extensive opportunities for our attendees to network and interact, including an enjoyable social program. I look forward to seeing you in stunning Salt Lake City where together we will be “Scaling New Heights in Reproductive Medicine.”

Sincerely,
Owen K. Davis, M.D. ASRM President, 2015-2016
